There
is only one reason to be vegan and that is for the nonhuman animals.
There are many ethical reasons to eat a plant-based diet. Surely we
should expound on these reasons –e.g. humanitarian, environmental and
health - but these are different moral issues.
Veganism
is about justice for nonhuman animals. It is about living a life
without exploiting, killing, and otherwise harming other animals as far
as possible. It is not right to allow ourselves to adulterate this
definition, so that veganism turns into a speciesist way of living that
is all about or primarily about us humans – e.g. eating no or less
animal products to alleviate starvation, reduce the environmental harm
of our consumption habits, or improve overall Health

A vegan diet can cure Chron's disease
Chron's disease:
" Inflammatory bowel diseases occur almost exclusively in parts of the world where the diet is high in meat and dairy foods, and are rare in countries where people still consume starch based, almost entirely vegetarian meals. Severe "allergic-type" reactions to some of those rich foods have been suspected as being the causes of these conditions."
The condition is improved/cured by consuming a vegan starchbased diet (e.g. rice, potatoes, beans, lentils) with fruits and vegetables:

Eating a vegan diet does not take hours of planning every week
If you eat a starchbased diet with fruits and vegetables (and without oils) you don’t need to worry about protein at all: http://circ.ahajournals.org/content/105/25/e197.full and http://drmcdougall.com/misc/2007nl/apr/dairy.htm
There is no planning required in order to get all essential amino acids.
And you don’t need to worry about Omega-3 either: http://www.drmcdougall.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=35660
Following a starch-based diet with fruits and vegetables (and possibly B12-supplement) - e.g. this diet: http://www.drmcdougall.com/ :
You don’t need to do hours of planning of your diet every week. And as you said, even if you would need this, convenience is no justification in order to needlessely harm and kill animals, which you do when you choose to consume a diet of animal foods instead of a vegan diet.
I would like to recommend http://www.vegankit.com/ and http://www.abolitionistvegansociety.org/

Raw milk vs a starch-based vegan diet, health benefits?
If you want are willing to study I recommend you to read this debate, which includes people who once in their lifetime thought raw milk was good for the human body: http://www.drmcdougall.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=27604
Milk is very nutrient dense for baby calves. Just because that it contains nutrients doesn't mean that the human body is able to absorb all these nutrients, and that it isn't detrimental for human health.
A vegan starch-based diet prevents stiffness in the joints, see e.g.: http://www.drmcdougall.com/stars/star06_jean-brown.html
and doesn't harm any animals, as is done in the dairy industry, and which the milk consumer pays for.

Vegan diet cures fibromyalgia, type-2-diabetes, heart issues
My reply to Sarah:
Fibromyalgia, heart issues and diabetes are all caused by a diet of animal foods:
You can learn more here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDopSo4BBds and http://www.drmcdougall.com/
Dozens of people with fibromyalgia have successfully been treated by eating a vegan starch-based vegan diet with fruits and vegetables, and without animal foods. Here is one: http://www.drmcdougall.com/stars/star13_cheryl_lambert.html
Type-2-diabetes is also cured with the same diet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iosoXlr3ZVI
Not only you benefit, but it is also the ethical thing to do, not to harm and kill animals without any necessity for it, and not for palate pleasure/convenience:

Good luck!! All the best!

Humans can live and thrive on a healthy plantbased diet (diet without animal foods)
Just
as an additional statement of the facts. Aside from 'exercise is
generally better than not exercising' there are not that many things
that enjoy more widespread consensus in public health than the
suitability of a plant-only diet.
In addition to the American Dietetic organization, "private and public sector health organizations across a continuum of care agree that a well planned, plant-only diet can be healthy. Organizations that have made public statements of the healthiness of a plant-only diet include dietetic associations, governmental bodies and private clinics.
The American Dietetic Association (1), Dietitians of Canada (2), the British National Health Service (3), the British Nutrition Foundation (4), the Dietitians Association of Australia (5), the United States Department of Agriculture (6), the National Institutes of Health (7), the Mayo Clinic (8), the Heart and Stroke Foundation (9), among others, all provide information on healthy living as well as nutritional suggestions for plant-based diets."

*Note* The term 'vegetarian,' as used by these organizations, does not distinct itself from a 100% plant-based diet, lacto/ovo, pesc etc. It encompasses all plant-based diets*
1) The Mayo Clinic: the first and largest integrated not-for-profit medical group practice in the world, employing more than 3,800 physicians and scientists and 50,900 allied health staff. It spends $500 million dollars on research a year.
“A well-planned vegetarian diet can meet the needs of people of *all ages*, including children, teenagers, and pregnant or breast-feeding women. The key is to be aware of your nutritional needs so that you plan a diet that meets them.”
2) The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics: the world's largest organization of food and nutrition professionals. The Academy is committed to improving the nation's health and advancing the profession of dietetics through research, education and advocacy.
“... [vegetarian diets] are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases...are appropriate for individuals during all stages of the life cycle, including pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, and adolescence, and for athletes.”
3) Kaiser Permanente: the largest managed care organization in the United States, published an article supporting the adoption of a plant-based diet earlier this spring.
"Healthy eating may be best achieved with a plant-based diet, which we define as a regimen that encourages whole, plant-based foods and discourages meats, dairy products, and eggs as well as all refined and processed foods. Research shows that plant-based diets are cost-effective, low-risk interventions that may lower body mass index, blood pressure, HbA1C, and cholesterol levels. They may also reduce the number of medications needed to treat chronic diseases and lower ischemic heart disease mortality rates. Physicians should consider recommending a plant-based diet to all their patients, especially those with high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or obesity."
4) A follow up written by Dr. John McDougall and his son, Dr. Craig McDougall concerning Kaiser Permanente's warning about potential nutrient deficiencies:
"In our experience of treating more than 5000 patients with a low-fat, whole foods, plant-based (vegan) diet, with follow-up lasting as long as 28 years, we have not seen any deficiencies of protein, iron, calcium, or essential fatty acids."
"More than a half-century of creative marketing by the meat, dairy, egg, and fish industries has produced fears surrounding nonexistent deficiencies, which in clinical practice need no patient monitoring by physicians and dietitians. Hopefully our concerns for overemphasizing the importance of largely theoretical risk will remove an unnecessary hindrance to the acceptance and practice of scientifically sound plant-based diets as recommended by Tuso and associates."

Lurking in the background behind sensational headlines, like the elephant in the room, are the epidemics of obesity and illness caused by eating too many animals and insufficient plants. Major medical organizations, including the World Health Organization and the US Burden of Disease Collaborators, have identified consumption of meat and dairy products as the leading cause of illness and death in Western countries. Heart disease and stroke top the list of diet-induced illnesses worldwide.
