Hello Bob,
I am writing this only to be helpful!
Please take the animal's perspective - they are the victim.
Either a religious book acknowledges that it is an atrocity to kill any sentient being – including the animals; or it endorses the murder of a sentient being by leaving e.g. animals or some people groups (of the human animal species) out of the 'Don't kill'-commandment. And by claiming that some animals are 'clean' for consumption.
If a religion is endorsing the murder of a sentient being it is against the Loving and Compassionate Life-giver and Creator of this universe.
The person eating meat completely disregards another being's feelings, emotions and free will to live the life that he/she was given. That person completely ignores the pain, suffering and death of the animal; and the pain and suffering of the animal's family.
The killing of more than 100 billions of animals per year is unethical and a big atrocity. Maybe more people would understand the atrocity if it was 100 billions dogs killed each year.
"The worst sin towards our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them, that is the essence of inhumanity."
George Bernard Shaw, (1856 - 1950) Irish Playwright and Essayist, Nobel Laureate for Literature 1925
"Compassion for animals is intimately connected with goodness of character and it may be confidently asserted that he who is cruel to animals cannot be a good man."
Arthur Schopenhauer, (1788 - 1860) German Philosopher

I believed in the books of the Moses between 2001 and 2012. I recently realized that it endorses practices that are unethical, so I changed my beliefs.

Bees honey and life; bees are conscious beings, that are able to feel pain
Did
you know that bees are sentient beings; they need the honey they are
creating; and they are usually suffering because of the practices of
those whom are stealing the honey from their hives and are "taking care"
of the bees. Bees are conscious:

You will find links of maltreatment of bees if you Google it.
Please don't cause bees and other sentient animals suffering by taking their lives and causing them other forms of suffering. Please watch and share this video: http://earthlings.com/

Vegan pets? Vegan cats and vegan dogs? Unethical evolution.
Dogs are both thriving and being healthy on a vegan diet, including the 2 dogs me and my wife take care of and thousands of other dogs with a vegan diet. Learn more e.g. by this vetrinary: http://www.farmedanimalfriends.org/1/post/2013/05/the-vegan-canine-can-my-canine-companion-be-a-vegan-by-laurie-jeffreys-dvm.html
However, the animals that the dog food in the store are made of, are a product of slavery, extreme animal abuse and mercieless slaughter.
The choice is easy, both let the dogs be healthy and thrive and let all other animals on this planet be healthy and thrive.
We can never, ever justify inflicting unnecessary suffering and death upon animals, which is done each time a non-vegan choice is made, including the consumtion of meat, milk or other animal products, and killing another animal to feed e.g. a 'pet' that can be healthy and thrive on a vegan diet: http://articles.philly.com/2009-08-14/news/24986151_1_atlanta-falcons-quarterback-vick-illegal-dog-dog-fights

Please don’t be insensitive to other sentient beings. They all are precious and all value life and their families.
Your dogs and cats are not more valuable than chickens or cows.
Furthermore, it is possible to feed animals a vegan diet and to ensure that they get enough nutrition.
Just to ensure that dogs get e.g. enough B-12 (it is possible to find it e.g. as a vegan supplement), and cats get enough ‘Taurine’, which can be supplied in synthetic form. It certainly requires lots of studies to ensure that ones pet get all of the required vitamins and minerals, etcetera, but it is definitely worth it and a must in order to live in an ethical way towards all sentient beings!
It is not OKAY to kill other animals just to be able to feed ones pet.

Pallara, I suppose you are not interested in letting information from
an expert get in the way of your uninformed opinions. In case others
are, here is very useful information on cat and dog nutrition -
including facts about the health issues that meat-based nutrition can
lead to - from veterinarian Andrew Knight: http://www.vegepets.info/
Anders Branderud Dogs can live and thrive on a vegan diet: http://www.farmedanimalfriends.org/1/post/2013/05/the-vegan-canine-can-my-canine-companion-be-a-vegan-by-laurie-jeffreys-dvm.html
Domestication is inherently immoral: http://www.abolitionistapproach.com/animal-rights-and-domesticated-nonhumans/
So you believe that we should kill hundreds of animals to feed a dog who can live and thrive on a vegan diet?
How can this ever be morally justified?
And the other discussion:
How can you say that you care about animals when you kill hundreds of animals just for palate pleasure/convenience to feed yourself?

Empathy for cows and dogs.
Such a touching story (he speaks in English). A farmer that from the beginning in his childhood connected with cows and other animals that people slaughtered; but then learned to disconnect and ignore their feelings. Later on he once again learnt to feel empathy for the cows through a meeting with a cow he adopted at Animal Sanctuary.
People have empathy for their dogs. A Cow is no different in feeling suffering, fear, joy and bond to his/her family. Neither of them should be on our plants!!!!

http://www.djurskyddet.se/se/vart-arbete/tips--rad-om-djur/konsumera-ratt/livsmedel/agg
Även höns som lägger ägg behandlas dåligt:
http://www.djurskyddet.se/se/vart-arbete/tips--rad-om-djur/konsumera-ratt/livsmedel/agg
Och i slutändan så blir
dem slaktade.
Och
all slakt är hemsk i Sverige och I resten av
världen:http://www.djurensratt.se/sites/default/files/rapport_kyckling.pdf
Och
så här blir dem behandlade I USA:
http://www.peta.org/issues/animals-used-for-food/chickens.aspx

Cows, hormones, animal products
It is also dangeous or your health:
'In 2006, a researcher from the Harvard School of Public Health found a strong link between dairy consumption and hormone-dependent cancers – testes, breast, and prostate. Scientist/physician Ganmaa Davaasambuu believes that the naturally occurring hormones in a pregnant cow’s milk increase the risks for these types of cancer. Milk from cows contains “considerable amounts of female sex hormones,” accounting for 60-80% of estrogens consumed by humans. Although the research focused on dairy, Ganmaa’s findings implicated a variety of animal products, as well as dairy:
Butter, meat, eggs, milk, and cheese are implicated in higher rates of hormone-dependent cancers in general, she said. Breast cancer has been linked particularly to consumption of milk and cheese.'

Don't kill animals; religious books, books of Moses, don't kill
Answer to the religion-advocating comments:
So there are two options,
Either a religious book acknowledges that it is an atrocity to kill any sentient being – including the animals; or it endorses the murder of a sentient being by leaving e.g. animals or some people groups (of the human animal species) out of the 'Don't kill'-commandment.
If a religion is endorsing the murder of a sentient being it is against the Loving and Compassionate Life-giver and Creator of this universe.

"My doctrine is this: If we see cruelty that we have the power to stop, and we do nothing, we make ourselves sharers in the guilt."
Anna Sewell, (1820 - 1877) English Author of "Black Beauty."
Please stop abusing animals by eating meat and remaining silent!!!! The abuse of animals is evident: http://www.peta.org/issues/animals-used-for-food/factory-farming.aspx

They need to be reformed to remove all practices that are hurting and killing sentient beings.
