(IsraelNN.com) The head of the General Security Services (Shabak), Yuval Diskin, told the cabinet on Sunday that Palestinian Authority terrorists in Gaza are already equipped with missiles capable of hitting the port of Ashdod and Kiryat Gat. According to Diskin, the enemy in Gaza must be defeated immediately if a greater escalation is to be avoided.

been bringing high-quality weaponry into the Strip, which has made it possible to fire beyond Ashkelon, as far as Kiryat Gat and Ashdod," he warned.

Yediot Akharonot skriver:
"A short hour later the IDF struck the cell of rocket launchers near Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza. Palestinian ["palestinska" araber] officials said a 13-year-old youth was killed and two others were wounded in the strike. The youths had apparently been standing near the cell when the strike occurred. One of those wounded is said to be critical condition.

A Palestinian ["palestinsk" arab] farmer was also reported killed in central Gaza in a separate IDF strike against a group of gunmen near Juhar al-Diq. The man, in his 30s, was struck in the head by shrapnel from an Israeli missile and later died of his wounds. Witnesses reported that Palestinians ["palestinska" araber] had staged mortar shell attacks from the farmer's lands a short while prior to the IDF response. "

10 000 människor kom till Sderot för att visa sin solidaritet.

Israel National News skriver:
"
(IsraelNN.com) At least 10,000 shoppers flooded into the rocket-battered city of Sderot on ... [22/2] in a pre-Sabbath shopping spree to show solidarity with the residents and inject some much-needed cash into the local economy.

The organizers, a volunteer group from Modi'in, provided the visiting shoppers with a map of Sderot marked with the locations of shopping centers. Shoppers were asked to divide their expenditures among several businesses and to specifically strengthen the smaller shop owners. "Just travel in the city," organizers said, "get to know it and its residents, and in that way you'll find more places of business [to patronize]."

Some 10,000 people from northern and central Israel traveled to Sderot on 22/2 to do their Shabbat shopping and show their solidarity for the residents of the beleaguered town.

10,000 Israelis express solidarity with Sderot

Hundreds of cars headed to the rocket-hit town from meeting points in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa and Ra'anana.

Modi'in resident Ilan Cohen, who organized the initiative, told Army Radio of his excitement at seeing so many people head to the town.

"More than 10,000 people are coming to the town, there's going to be a huge celebration…I call on all Israelis, there is still time to come, we are not forgetting the people of Sderot," he said, adding, "Israeli citizens are their last hope."

Numerous organizations participated in the solidarity mission and several municipalities even provided buses for the journey to the Gaza belt.

Among the participants were dozens of social movement activists as well as members of student organizations, secular and religious communities and sports clubs. Ra'anana Mayor Nahum Hofree was also spotted among the shoppers.

Varför skriver inte svensk massmedia om detta? Detta initiativ visar att det finns många israeler som har omsorg om andra.
